Velka Pardubicka 2026
An unforgettable blend of thrilling racing, Czech culture and lively hospitality made the Velká Pardubická weekend a truly special experience. One of the most distinctive events in the racing calendar, this legendary cross-country steeplechase brought together the excitement of a world-famous sporting occasion with the historic charm of Prague, creating a trip full of memorable moments from start to finish.
Our adventure began with a flight from London Heathrow to Prague, where we were welcomed by the Venatour team before transferring to our hotel, Pulse8. With three nights in the Czech capital, there was plenty of time to settle in and begin discovering the city. After the journey, the afternoon was free to explore, before meeting tour host Marc for a welcome drink and the chance to get to know our fellow travellers. With Prague’s vibrant restaurants and welcoming bars waiting to be discovered, the first evening offered a fantastic introduction to the city.

Saturday gave us the opportunity to experience Prague at our own pace. Steeped in history and architectural beauty, the city provided a wonderful backdrop to the weekend, with its charming streets, striking landmarks and lively atmosphere. From the iconic Charles Bridge and magnificent Prague Castle to the bustling Old Town Square and scenic banks of the Vltava River, there was no shortage of places to explore. Whether discovering the city’s rich heritage or sampling traditional Czech cuisine, the day offered a perfect balance of sightseeing and relaxation.
As evening arrived, the group came together for a memorable night of traditional Czech hospitality. A five-course banquet at a restaurant in central Prague, accompanied by drinks and music, provided a lively celebration and a chance to share stories ahead of the main event. With great food, entertainment and excellent company, it was a fitting way to build anticipation for the racing spectacle that lay ahead.
Sunday brought the highlight of the trip as we travelled to Pardubice for the legendary Velká Pardubická. Few races offer such a unique combination of drama, endurance and sheer determination. Famous for its demanding cross-country course and formidable obstacles, the race tested the courage and skill of both horse and jockey, keeping spectators captivated as the action unfolded. The atmosphere was unlike an ordinary day at the races, with the excitement of the crowd adding to the occasion and the challenge of the course making every moment count.

Our hospitality experience made the day even more special. From our seats in the third-level grandstand, we enjoyed a fantastic view of the racing, alongside a complimentary buffet lunch, bar and dedicated Tote betting area. It was a brilliant way to take in the action in comfort while soaking up the atmosphere of one of Czech racing’s most celebrated events. The Velká Pardubická stood out as a race meeting with real character, a thrilling test of stamina and bravery that offered something completely different from the traditional flat-racing experience.
After an action-packed day, we returned to Prague with the evening free to relax and enjoy the city one last time. It was the perfect opportunity to reflect on the day’s racing highlights, share favourite moments with fellow guests and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere that had made the trip so enjoyable.
All too soon, Monday arrived and it was time to make our way back to Prague Airport for the flight home to London. Although the weekend had come to an end, we left with lasting memories of a fascinating city, wonderful Czech hospitality and a racing event that truly lived up to its reputation.
From exploring Prague’s historic streets and enjoying a traditional Czech banquet to witnessing the extraordinary challenge of the Velká Pardubická, the tour delivered a fantastic mix of culture, camaraderie and sporting excitement. It was a racing weekend with a difference, one that showcased the unique spirit of Czech racing and left us with plenty of stories to tell long after we returned home.
